This illustration by Pascal Blanchet caught my eye. There is an interesting urban legend about a song titled Gloomy Sunday aka “Hungarian suicide song” that was written in 1933 and was blamed for hundreds of suicides in the 1930s. Interesting for a song to have that kind of power.

An illustration that Michael Heald did for Lightmaker. I love the piggy one.
The brief was a branding task, to create a lively and fun brand for the new mobile subscription service ‘Splash’ (which you may have seen on MTV). This was the chosen brand. Good choice Splash!! I wanted to give the brand some real mileage, so designed the character to work in the same way as some of my other character ranges, where you can simply change the skin to create a totally new character while still keeping a ‘family’ feel, keep your eye’s peeled there is a new site on the way too.

I love his paintings/illustrations. They are very well rendered which my old life drawing teacher would’ve loved and quite expressive. crackedhat

I like how expressive the expression of the girls are. The kind of manga style art that I like
Kana Ohtsuki lives in kyoto. She started her career making cover art for the Free Paper while she was attending Sei-an University of Art and design. Her work is not the typical big eye Japanese girl art. The tone is soft with dark undertones. Her subjects are innocent teenagers whose feeling cannot be expressed in words. There is a mystery hidden behind the eyes of these girls. via compoundgallery
